Water Babies:
Newborns thru 4 months:
At the stage in a babies' life when most water exposure is limited to a shallow bath, few parents take the bath plunge 'with' their baby. Any early swimming experience should be the choice of a parents. -Ms. Melina began teaching her own babies, in a warm bath within the first weeks of their life. "A warm environment is a must!" "You need to be comfortable and confident in your skills so the experience is positive and successful." Typically, we do not have swimming students this young, but are willing to assist with the 'training of the parents.'
4 months to 8 months:
At this age, we offer a unique experience for parents to learn how to hold and move their babes safely through the water. Introduction of aquatic balance and back floating is more successful at this age than in the coming months. Providing several areas for balance exploration, and use of toys makes our program a favorite with our swimmers. NOTE: All non-potty trained swimmers are required to use a 'reusable swim diaper. (Stocked in our swim shop.)
9 months to 14 months:
At this age, we see rapid growth development and interest in exploration and communication. We introduce different swim positions and encourage independence. Your baby will have an opportunity to walk on the swim island, learn to swim towards you, and be free to explore this independence with you. 15 months to 24 months:
At this age your child is growing very fast. They are more independent, beginning to push away from us and wanting to try new things. The growth we see in the pool at this age is fun and rapidly changing. It is important to offer challenges. Our swim islands offer us a variety of possiblities. We have so many tricks for them to try. Let us help them grow, after this age group, most parents stay out the water during instruction. So we encourage you to be a part of their learning process as much as possible.
24 months to 36 months
- At this age, depending on the level of maturity, we offer two options:
24 months to 36 months:
Water Babe- still needing the companionship of parent, and or parent prefers involvement. Instructional pace is not delayed, just steady with
games and activites designed around
those needs.
24 months to 36 months:
Toddler - a class for those able to sit, wait and follow basic instructions. In this class we ask parents to back away, out of direct eye sight and let us bond with your child. We will handle any Swimming Symphony, who's volume needs adjusting. We love seeing them come in as babes and leave as proud little swimmers. (We love working with this incredible age.)
3 years -5 years:
Toddler plus:
At this age, we can introduce the beginning techniques for several strokes and expect to see real swimmers emerge. Patience is important but maintaining their trust is crucial.
6 and up:
The swimmers in this age group are either so excited or so frightened. We enjoy opening the eyes of this age, for as soon as they are confident, they experience rapid understanding. Seeing them learn is of prime concern.
Swim Prep:
Our current and past swimmers will love this class as it offers a new way to use the skills they have learned. Mastering competitive techniques and prepare you for competition is what this is all about.
Adult:
When an adult decides to learn to swim, we are sensitive to their needs. Privacy is one of the first factors we insist they give themselves; the next is not to set goals and time limits.
Remember, it has taken a long time to get you here. Allow plenty of time to grow beyond....
Synchronized Swimming:
Our desire is to offer our swimmers something new. This is a challenging and wonderful way to apply many principles of stroke mechanics with music and stunts. This is not limited to girls, guys love knowing tricks their friends do not know. Come try it!
