Registration: Frequently Asked Questions If you are new to our program or haven’t swum with us in SIX months, please complete a registration form. Registration can be completed online or on-site. Can I come see the pool before I register? Yes, we love visitors!
Please call the office to schedule an appointment. What do I need to bring for my swimmer’s first lesson? A swimsuit, A MAP to our pool, extra towels, a change of clothes (if desired), and during the winter months, cold weather clothing. We sell goggles & swim diapers onsite. Please arrive five to ten minutes early if planning to purchase any equipment. Do I have to stay while my child is swimming? Yes! Swimmerman Swim School is NOT equipped to supervise children before or after class. Parents must stay onsite AND in sight of their child while at Swimmerman. During the lesson, the teaching staff may need parents to assist with restroom duty. Do you allow make-ups? We only provide make-up lessons in the event of the following: Weather & Fecal Contamination. What are your cancellation/rescheduling policies? When you schedule a private or semi-private lesson, you reserve the pool and instructor. We need 72 HOURS advanced notice to move/cancel a lesson. If a change is made within 72 hours, the Non-Refundable Deposit will be deducted from your account. What does the Non-Refundable Deposit (NRD) do? Lesson time is precious! In the event that a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled, the NRD covers the cost to Swimmerman of providing the lesson and turning away potential swimmers. Why do I still have to pay when my child is sick? We understand your concern. Nobody wants your child to be ill. We try our best to accommodate changes & cancellations; unfortunately, any schedule changes within 72 hours of a lesson affect everyone. Would you expect a refund if your child was too sick to attend school? Can I bring friends and/or family to swim lessons? YES, however, we ask that all spectators respect the privacy of both your child’s lesson and others while onsite. During the winter months, spectators are allow to sit inside, so long as they do not disturb or distract from lessons. Where can I purchase equipment for my child’s lessons? We’ve got you covered! Swimmerman has gone to Fiji and back to find the best possible swimming equipment. Ask about our onsite Store for more information. Who will be teaching my child? One of our senior instructors will be teaching your swimmer for his/her Introductory Lesson. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a specific instructor for all your lessons. How long will it take my child to learn to swim? We don’t know! What is your definition of swimming? The time required to master any skill is directly related to the amount of time spent working towards that goal. How long would it take your child to learn to read if you only spend 50 minutes a week helping them? We aspire for all our swimmers to come back as instructors, so we’ve got a lot of work to do! Why are your lessons more expensive than at the YMCA? Our program is a National Award Winning program based on 35+ years of teaching. We are dedicated to building a teaching approach that is personalized and continues to reflect our international swimming experience. This is what we love to do. That is the difference. Do you offer any family discounts for multiple children? YES, but only for multiple siblings enrolled in group lessons. Ask our office staff for more information. Can I take pictures or video of my child’s lesson? NO! In order to preserve the privacy of our swim families, we cannot allow individual photography or videotaping while lessons are in progress. This also applies to cell phone cameras! If you want photos or video of your swimmer in action, ask a staff member about our PhotoSharing Program! Your question isn’t on here?
